All You Need Is Love

As the venerable baseball announcer Mel Allen used to say, Well, How About That!   Davis Love III won the 2015 Wyndham Championship this weekend finishing 17-under 263- under par and showing alL the young whippersnappers on the PGA Tour that the Golden Oldies can still play.  Love, 51 years young, became the third oldest winner in PGA Tour history, trailing only Sam Snead (52 years old when he won the last of his eight Greensboro titles in 1965,) and Art Wall, Jr. (51 years and seven months old when he won in Milwaukee in 1975.)  Reminiscent of baseball’s Minnie Minoso, with this win Love became only the third player to win on the PGA Tour in four different decades, joining Sam Snead and Raymond Floyd

As for Tiger, he triple-bogeyed the 11th hole in the final round to end his chances to win the tournament and extend his season.  The triple bogey was ugly, as he duffed a green-side chip like a 30-handicapper and never recovered.   So Love moves on to the Barclays, and Tiger goes home.  Let’s hear it for the old guy.
